Support the Westmill Wind Farm

How the windfarm will look
A wind farm of 5 turbines is being planned for an old airfield site near Watchfield, on the Oxfordshire-Wiltshire border. OxFoE supports of this plan, as we would like to see renewable energy being generated in the county. A small but well-resourced group of local people are opposing the plans, leading to delays in getting planning permission. However, a new group, WOW - Windpower over Westmill, has recently been formed by local people who believe in the importance and need for local renewable energy solutions to tackle global warming.

Latest news - 19 April 2004

The Vale of White Horse District Council Planning Committee decided to refer the planning application to the Secretary of State to decide the fate of the more powerful Bonus 1.3MW turbines, while giving the smaller Vestas 850kw machines the all clear for development along with the small electrical sub-station.
